SIRUNCHA (SIRONCHA) means, Head Up, is situated at the last southern part of Maharashtra state. Three rivers-Wainganga, Godavari and Pranhita - divides the area from Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra states. In other words, it is the meeting point of 3 rivers and three states. But due to ‘Naxalite’ problem, thick forest, lack of communication facilities, and the tribal population, the area was totally neglected by the Government machineries. Recently, three big bridges were constructed and the communication is strengthened. The area is 200 km away from the Tribal district, Gadchiroli and 203 km away from Chandrapur District headquarters. In the Google map Sironcha is very famous. Sironcha is the only place in the world, where three fossils; namely an Egg and a full skeleton of DINOSAUR (that is kept in the Calcutta Museum), fossil of a FISH and a dozen of WOOD STONE fossils, were unearthed from the vicinities of Sironcha forest and near the Godavari basin, from 1959 onwards. The Kaleshwar Lift Irrigation and drinking water supply project for the Hyderabad city have been commissioned from this area. The school, Carmel Academy is the only CBSE (Proposed) school in the radius of 100 kms. Most of the people of town are migrated from Andra Pradesh and Telangana, besides the tribal population. But these people are very hard working. Children coming to the school mainly belong to Andra origin. They speak Telugu, beside Marathi and Hindi languages. We are sure that these people, who do not have much affinity to modern world, or other part of the country will be annexed to the modern world, as well as, other part of the country within few years through the medium of Carmel Academy as a connectivity. We are also running a free hostel for a few poor village students. In fact, the school is situated in mangroves. So, it is full of greenery, and the land is very fertile too. A bird sanctuary and a small dairy farm are also run by the management. We are confident that the school Carmel Academy can fulfill
the earnest desires of both local and coming generation within a few years of time. I take this opportunity to thank the management, CMI Services Society run by CMI Congregation of Mar Thoma Province, Chanda, for their encouragement, support and guidance for the development and growth of this institution.
